About Kathy Corey
Kathy began her Pilates journey in 1979 with legendary Master Teacher Ron Fletcher. Their relationship spanned over 20 years, during which she worked closely with Fletcher, eventually directing his workshops and helping to organize his teachings.
In 1983, she became the national fitness columnist for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate. Her column, “Body Lessons,” reached readers in seven languages and expanded public awareness of Pilates and movement education.
In 1984, she launched Kathy Corey Pilates, a global education organization dedicated to excellence in instructor training. Her programs are known for their depth, clarity, and strong foundation in Pilates’ original principles.
Throughout her career, Kathy has learned from and collaborated with first-generation Pilates Masters including Romana Kryzanowska, Kathy Grant, Bruce King, and Carola Trier. These rare mentorships deepened her knowledge and rooted her firmly in the original teachings of Joseph and Clara Pilates.
Kathy has played an instrumental role in shaping Pilates education. In 1991, she served as Public Relations Director for the Institute for the Pilates Method, where she promoted and documented the work of early pioneers. She also authored numerous manuals, articles, and teaching resources that are used by professionals worldwide.
As the creator of the Kathy Corey Pilates Mentor Program, she continues to elevate instructor education. Her program bridges classical and contemporary work, offering advanced training and personalized mentorship to seasoned professionals.
Kathy is a featured presenter at international conferences and a respected voice in the Pilates community. Her teaching is known for its clarity, passion, and commitment to both tradition and innovation.
Today, she is honored to serve as President and Director of the International Pilates Heritage Congress in Mönchengladbach, Germany — the birthplace of Joseph Pilates. This prestigious global event celebrates the lineage, evolution, and future of Pilates.
Kathy Corey’s work is a powerful bridge between the origins of Pilates and its modern expression. Her lifelong mission remains clear: to inspire, educate, and keep the true spirit of Pilates alive for generations to come.
